Manifesto

The House of Being

There are things the soul reaches for and cannot reach with words.

Being is the closest thing to us — closer than our own skin. And so it is the most distant: too close to be seen. We reach for horizons, for stars, for gods — and miss what breathes beside us, what has always been here, what we ourselves are.

Scent travels past reason — straight to where the unspoken is kept. A scent can carry us into feeling — calm and excitement, passion, tenderness, memories and dreams.

Maison des Maisons was built for one purpose — to let you touch this distant nearness. Not to bring it back; it cannot be brought back. To let you touch it. For a single breath. And step further.

Every fragrance is a doorway into the extraordinary. Come in. Stay a while. Be.

How our compositions live

Our fragrances do not begin in the air — they begin on the skin. They need your warmth, your pulse, your own scent to awaken. In the first minutes they only measure themselves against you; then they merge with the body until it is impossible to tell where you end and the fragrance begins.

And then they play — never repeating themselves: retreating to a whisper, returning as a wave, growing quieter and closer towards evening.

Let them breathe on your skin. They will answer.

Le Corps

Five acts on the body

Le Corps · Act I

La Première Chair

The First Flesh

I came into this world weak and all-powerful. I was loved simply because I was.

There is a memory that has no words in you, because it is older than words.

A newborn — warm, helpless, defenceless — and carrying all of the family's “tomorrow”. This is flesh before the fall: before the world had time to hang words, structures, shame and expectations upon it. A body that does not yet hold a single role. Only the fact: I am — and I am loved simply because I am.

La Première Chair does not seduce. There is no game here and no vice. Here is the soft, sunlit breath of immortelle and the resinous light of benzoin, the milky roundness of sandalwood, a musk that smells not of passion but of presence. And an amber trail that stays in memory — for a year, for ten, for a lifetime.

This fragrance does not ask who you have become. It asks whether you can remember yourself — before roles, before success, before the masks.

Top
immortelle, benzoin
Heart
sandalwood, musk, rosewood
Base
frankincense, honey, a hint of leather, amber

It warms slowly, and only with your warmth. At some moment you will no longer know whether it is you or it.

Le Corps · Act II

Énigme de la Chambre Rouge

The Enigma of the Red Room

Shame is only clothing. A room one enters already knowing why.

First comes the nobility of the rose — an invitation, a call. Bergamot flares and fades, pink pepper settles on the skin as a dry spark, benzoin adds warmth at once. The rose here is not innocent: velvety, dense, almost dark. Labdanum raises a resinous, animalic, smoky wave. The vanilla is not sugary — deep, spiced, like the scent of skin warmed by wine and candles.

A fragrance about a carnal instinct that does not hide — and never slips into vulgarity. For those who know: shame is only clothing, and a body that has become aware of itself is always, a little, a red room.

Top
bergamot, pink pepper, a spark of benzoin
Heart
rose, labdanum, dark vanilla
Base
patchouli, sandalwood, musk, an amber body

It leaves last — like the echo of an evening's heat, lingering on the sheets and in memory.

Le Corps · Act III

Je Suis Chaque Instant

I Am Every Moment

I am every moment, and that is enough.

Early summer. A winery in the foothills, where past and present do not argue but stand shoulder to shoulder — an old building and a new wing, two ways of looking at the same hills.

The car door opens, and the first step lands not on the ground. The floor disappears as a fact; what remains is the feeling that you are not walking — you are floating in the moment.

Sun and dust. Freshly cut grass. The wind carries the scents of different terroirs: clay, lime, stone. In the thick of the green — heavy, businesslike bumblebees, nothing decorative about them. Swallows fly in under the high vaults and cut the air in arcs, as if drawing the space themselves. Warmth washes over you, not heat — as if clothing did not exist and you were one body with the air and the light.

And even if you are worldly and used to a great deal, you will catch yourself in the rarest of feelings: I did not expect to be surprised — and yet I was.

Top
green tea, violet leaf, cut grass
Heart
iris, wax and honey, warm dust
Base
vetiver, cedar, tonka, skin musk

It builds nothing and ends in nothing. It simply lasts — exactly as long as you are ready to last with it.

Le Corps · Act IV

Quand le corps se tait

When the Body Falls Silent

Your own whisper can be heard only when the body at last falls silent.

Coimbra, Portugal — a university where time does not flow but keeps stumbling over the stones of history. The oldest library stands upright, yet in its silence there is a noble shake of the head: I have seen enough not to be surprised, but I still know how to keep another's delight. Students in black gowns cross the courtyards, and you cannot tell whether it is the seventeenth century or yesterday.

Then — Quinta das Lágrimas. The house remembers its story, tragic and all too human, and does not entertain its guests but quietly guides them: speak softer, look longer, move more slowly.

The intimate library of the estate beneath a dome. Old books, wood, faintly warmed dust. The sun is setting.

And at some moment you discover that the body has stopped making noise. Nothing calls, nothing demands, nothing distracts — it has stepped aside, making room for something else. What we are used to calling the soul does not announce itself loudly. It whispers.

Top
frankincense, violet light
Heart
iris, vetiver, limestone dust
Base
cedar, frankincense, dry amber

It is quieter than the others — and so it is heard the longest. Long after, it is still with you, a single breath away.

Le Corps · Act V

Casino

The Wager

The game is about the courage to stake yourself — and to learn who you are at the moment of the wager.

Christmas in Baden-Baden. Snow at the edges, but the pavement is dry — the city itself has come out in a dinner jacket.

A casino hall where the game did not simply go on, but wrote history. Heavy velvet drapes shutting out the light. Old wood, lime, dust. Chandeliers shimmer, champagne whispers with bubbles, chips flash gold and mother-of-pearl. A draught of tobacco from the smoking room, the stern voice of the croupier, laughter in the alcoves, voices sometimes pitched a little too high.

But this is not an evening of self-destruction — it is an evening of observation. A small game as a tribute to Fortune, not an attempt to cheat her.

And somewhere between a sip of champagne and the cold of the chips between your fingers comes the thought: the game is not about money.

Top
bergamot, juniper, a champagne spark
Heart
tobacco, cypress, green austerity, a hint of leather
Base
cedar, amber, musk, smoke from the smoking room

At night, in the hotel room, it still smells of that hall — of wood, of dust on the stucco, of the faint ghost of other people's perfumes from decades past.
